Skip began drumming and singing with a popular local band from the Denver area. They traveled throughout the state of Colorado performing at clubs, colleges, and festivals, establishing a reputation for raw heavy, funk! Having developed a powerful, yet funky style, his drumming has led him to work with such diverse artist’s as, The World Famous Twister Band, The Marvelettes, Mitch Ryder, The Platters, Teresa Lynne Blues Band, Sundance & The Music In Blue, The Coasters, Angie Arnold, Legendary drummers- Buddy Miles & Alphonse Mouzon, keyboard extraordinaire, Joe Bonner, Funk Trumpeter Douglas Jackson, The Drifters, Sista Monica, Tommy Thomas & The Working Man’s Band, Lex’us Korner, Cat Lucero, and Linda Styles, among others. He has shared the stage with a host of performers including The Temptations, Santana, Joan Osborne, Average White Band, Boney James, Russ Freeman & The Rippingtons, Gerald Albright, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Primus, The Kinsey Report, Danny Seraphine(former drummer for Chicago), Classic Rock All-stars(featuring former members of Rare Earth, Sugar Loaf, and Iron Butterfly), Tab Benoit, Koko Taylor, Robben Ford & The Blue Line, Donald Harrison, El Chicano, Malo, and a list of others.
In addition to his drumming, Skip has co-produced a television show called Bigmouth & Knucklehead’s “Readertainment”, which encouraged reading/literacy among children. The show ran on DCTV, for almost 5 years. The show was also heard on Radio Disney Denver and Talk Radio 630 Khow. Voiceovers, speaking engagements, and hosting events, are also a part of his activities as well. As of Jan 06, Skip is the on air host of a radio program called “A Funk Above The Rest”! The show broadcasts from the winner of the Major Market Jazz Station in the Nation for 2005/2006, jazz89KUVO Saturday nights! (No matter where you go, no matter what you do, always have some FUNK with you)! When you tune in, you will hear the “old funk-the new funk-the everything in between funk”! In collaboration with his radio show, Skip is also writing a regular monthly column in the magazine “The Colorado Music Buzz”. The section is called, “Funk Talk Theatre”! Articles pertaining to the Funk and other pertinent things in between will be on the menu. But it doesn’t stop there! Skip has been a huge supporter of independent artists ever since the inception of his radio show. This support has not gone unnoticed. As of Nov 28, 2007 Skip will be the host of a new TV show
